Killing of Osamuyia Aikpitanhi
Once again, I am several weeks behind on news which is shaking up African bloggers and the most observant of Europeans. Osamuyia Aikpitanhi, the young Nigerian shown to the right, died on June 9th in the custody of Spanish officials while being deported from Spain on an Iberia airlines flight from Madrid to Lagos. The exact circumstances surrounding his killing are somewhat murky and are supposedly being investigated by Nigerian authorities.
A petition circulated on Nigerian Village Square has already received over 4000 signatures. On Friday, June 29th, petitions were delivered to embassies worldwide. Other bloggers who got on this story in a timely fashion: Adeola Aderounmu, Jola Naibi, David Ajao, Ugo Daniels,...
