Colet Odenigbo is running for a seat on the school board in DeKalb County, Georgia. As a former resident of that county, I agree wholeheartedly with Mr Odenigbo when he advocates a more equitable distribution of resources regardless of where the schools are located. In an interview that he gave back in March, Mr. Odenigbo further advocates for better schools as a remedy to the criminal activity on the part of underpriveleged youth in DeKalb County and metropolitan Atlanta in general.

Mr. Odenigbo was born in Nigeria but has lived in the United States since 1986, including eight years of service in the U.S. Navy. I read about his school board candidacy in an entry by Imnakoya on his blog,
Grandiose Parlor.

Jet Carrying 104 People Crashes in Nigeria - Breaking story from ABC News about a crash of a jet taking off from Abuja in a storm. Most of those on board are feared dead, including the sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Maccido, regarded as the spiritual leader of muslims in Nigeria.
