Climate Change and the Earth System
The latest post on theclimateblog counters "climate skeptic" arguments that the present warming of Earth's climate is minor compared to those in the geologic past. Earth was warmer during the age of the dinosaurs, and there was most certainly more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. However, the entire Earth System was so different that we are really talking about a totally different atmosphere with different patterns of circulation. Now I am waiting to see what the lady up in Chicago has to say about the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum!

I appreciate your compliments on my blog and this post. Of course, the image above actually shows the collision of an asteroid which nearly wiped out living organisms on Earth.
I wonder how long till we manage to disintegrate ourselvees?
The amount respect that we show the Earth, I wouldn't think too long!
I actually think that the Earth will probably survive long beyond the point where it supports human beings. Our impending crisis will involve deciding whether to budget for long-term survival here or try and blast off and propagate with a select few somewhere else.
Where do we turn for an answer here? Christ? Buddha? Mohammed?
You know how we all seem to have a habit of being our own worse enemy?
I think that's what we'll do.
Be the cause of our own destruction - the Earth might go on but not conducive to human life?
Like Mars or any other planet is now
