Terrance McKnight's Ancestry

Georgia Public Radio personality Terrance McKnight, a frequent contributor to the NPR program "Performance Today," has received results of a DNA analysis which suggests that he has Nigerian heritage. While I generally think that environment plays a bigger role than inheritance in determining our intellectual faculties and talents, there are some talents and abilities which do run in families. So perhaps Terrance's musicality does partly stem from deep roots in his lineage. Listen to him tell the story in his own words here.

Wow, Don, that was absolutely fascinating. What a wonderful way to better understand our connections to places and each other.

Holly - Unfortunately, I could not find the exact interview which I heard on the radio. The file that is posted is from last fall, before Terrance got his results which indicate Youruba and Ibo ancestry.
