Spencer gets 6 Months
Donald Spencer, the owner of Spencer Environmental, Inc., was sentenced to six months in prison by the U.S. District Court in Porland, Oregon. According to the June 5 story in the Portland Tribune, Spencer Environmental will also pay a $150,000 fine. After a March 2004 fire at the company’s former plant, waste oil and acid were spilled into a local creek causing the death of hundreds of fish. Spencer had sold the building about a year before the fire occurred, hiding evidence of contamination at the site.
