How terrible. A canopy walk is a wonderful idea. I will be looking for what caused the collapse. (It's ghoulish, I know, but the Kansas City Hilton walkway collapse was fascinating on many levels.)
I saw an architect discussing the design. He indicated that the structure would have been extremely stable when complete, but possibly not so as it was being built. The walkway consists of several segments which are canted to lean into and provide support for one another.
