The Largest Industrial Spill in American History!
I post mostly on academic and political topics related to my own research on environmental change, archaeology, and human interaction with the environment. Geographically, I range across the Americas to Africa and Europe. My brother lives in Japan and so I do have some interest in Asia, although I have yet to visit.

I had no idea that there were no federal regulations on dumping. My ignorance is stemmed for my continued rose-colored glass view of the world. Seems unbelievable to me that this sort of thing goes on daily, without retribution, and destroys our already troubled environment.
There are regulations, but the federal government is the enforcer of those regulations. I was particularly upset when the Bush administration exempted the military from environmental restrictions on "mission critical" projects. As far as I know, that has not been rescinded.
